Our fast-paced and motivated team is currently recruiting a Project Lead, who, reporting to the Director of Projects, plays a key leadership role within Nomodic’s operations team. The Project Leads primary focus is to monitor and oversee the safety, cost, schedule and execution of work of the various projects within their assigned area of responsibility.

The Job 


The Project Lead will provide leadership, training and direction to their assigned Project Coordinators, Construction Managers, subcontractors as appropriate. The Project Lead will ensure punctual reporting for both internal and client specified reports. Tasking and assignment are self directed but it is expected that they will use their resources appropriately to complete their work.


The Project Leads duties are to be performed at a high level of professionalism and moral standards, ensuring that the projects’ goals of safety, cost and schedule are maintained throughout the work.


This position is based in Calgary.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Safety
    • Support Nomodic’s safety vision and complies with all safety rules, policies, and procedures; maintains accountability for safety performance of subordinate personnel
    • Coordinate safety efforts for all projects. Using both internal and external resources as required 
    • Report all incidents immediately to the Director of Projects and ensure that the incident reporting policies are followed
    • Participate in risk and incident reviews as applicable
  • Project Development
    • Develop work plans including resource planning of Nomodic construction staff and contractors
    • Support the project development process ensuring an optimized execution strategy and handover to Projects. Including review and assistance in the development of the technical and construction documentation
  • Operating
    • Development of the project execution plan based upon the contracted construction documents, such as specifications, scope of work, schedules, and estimation budget
    • Ensure the required coordination activities occur with other Nomodic staff, departments, and external parties as necessary to execute the work
    • Maintain open communications with their Construction Managers reviewing deliverables on a weekly basis with daily updates expected as a minimum standard
    • Ensure that project activities, reporting and scheduling requirements assigned by the Director of Projects for their area are implemented and executed in such a manner that both Nomodic and client expectations are fully met
    • Review, forecast and update both costing and scheduling on a weekly basis by working closely with the Project Leads
    • Resolve field construction problems in coordination with engineering staff, third parties, and other agencies as necessary
    • Assist in negotiating with contractors regarding changes to design, construction work scope, and schedules
    • Monitor claims, suggest ways to mitigate impacts, and develops workarounds


  • Reporting
    • Responsible for pre, progress, and post budget reporting
    • Conduct reviews, forecasts and provide executive updates for projects on a weekly basis while maintaining familiarity of the project activities, risks, and potential issues each day
    • Manage all client reporting as per the requirements of the contract or requests by the client
    • Attends management, progress meetings, develops status reports, and delivers presentations as required


Other duties as required.





  • Completion of post-secondary school is required (or equivalent work experience)
  • Must hold all current safety certifications as outlined in the master Training Matrix
  • Must be fluent in English (both oral and written)
  • Must have minimum of valid class 5 driver’s license


Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to promote and exemplify Nomodic’s core values
  • 5+ years project management experience
  • BC Housing experience is an asset
  • Confidence and assertiveness to lead and direct vendors and contractors while maintaining a positive working relationship
  • Capable user of computer tools and systems to support the role, including Microsoft Office products, and the willingness to introduce new IT tools to drive efficiencies and automation
  • High standards of ethical conduct; ensuring the preservation of confidential and/or sensitive information
